(Boulder, Colo., Sept. 27, 2011) — The American Solar Energy Society (ASES) is pleased to announce that Susan Greene has taken the reins as president.
Greene brings to the job a long record of accomplishment in the nonprofit, private and government sectors. Most recently, she was senior vice president at The Cable Center, where she created and expanded The Center’s informational, educational and professional development programs for the cable industry, university students and the public. She has been president of Women in Sustainable Energy (WISE), where she led the growth of this professional educational and networking organization, establishing its 501(c) (3) status, creating regularly scheduled educational and networking programs and recruiting corporate sponsors.
Previously Greene held executive positions at NBC, HBO, Citigroup and Time Warner Cable, where she worked to build new businesses at the intersection of content and technology. Earlier in her career, Greene was an attorney at the Federal Communications Commission.
“Susan Greene brings to ASES a strong track record in building growing enterprises, and especially in managing the critical interface of public policy, regulation and competitive business practice,” said ASES Board Chair Jeff Lyng. “As a media-savvy executive, she is the ideal person to guide ASES as it grows into a more powerfully effective voice for renewable energy.”
“I am delighted to join the ASES team,” Greene said. “The coming together of public policy, consumer interest and new and more cost-effective technologies in the renewable energy sector provides a unique opportunity for ASES to play a central role in the creation of the new energy landscape.”
Shaun McGrath stepped down from the executive director position to pursue an opportunity in public policy.
