German car maker Porsche has long been known for making luxurious and prestigious cars that are incredibly fast. In 2010 Porsche launched their first hybrid car, the Cayenne. The car maker is now at work to launch their first plugin hybrid sports car, the 918 Spyder Hybrid at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2013.
Although hybrids are often thought to have less performance that traditional gas fueled cars, the 918 Spyder aims to retain the performance of their renown. This hybrid model promises to go from 0 to 60 in just 3 seconds. The car, when fully charged, is also expected to reach 90mph without using any fuel. This new model is based on Spyder racer model LMP2 and features a 4.6 liter v8 engine.
WREF 2012 will feature developments in electric and hybrid cars. Register now.
