“The 8 panels generate enough power to credit my power bill for a majority of the year, with an electric hot water tank,” said a proud owner of Solar Photovoltaic system in Shoreline.
You can be part of the largest grass roots solar event in the nation when you see this and many other installations in the Puget Sound Region. Solar Washington is promoting what is happening on the tour for the State of Washington. Many solar vendors in the Puget Sound area will also be promoting the event and inviting their clients to participate as tour sites.
When: Saturday October 6, 2012 from 10 am to 4 pm
For additional information about the tour at the state level go to Solar Washington’s website http://solarwa.org/tour or American Solar Energy Society for a nation-wide listing: http://ases.org/solar-tour/find-a-tour/
According to the ASES website “The ASES National Solar Tour offers the opportunity to tour innovative green homes and buildings to see how you can use solar energy, energy efficiency, and other sustainable technologies to reduce monthly utility bills and help tackle climate change. More than 165,000 participants will visit some 5,500 buildings in 3,200 communities across the U.S.”
If you live in Western Washington you may want to start your Solar Tour with a mouth watering barbecue at Northwest Mechanical.
Where: 3204 NE 145th Street; Shoreline WA 98155
(Corner of NE 145th Street and Lake City Way)
While you satisfy your taste buds and fill your belly, expert technicians will let you see the components of solar photo voltaic and solar thermal installations up close. Getting your initial questions answered on this first stop will help you come up with substantive questions for property owners at the other sites. It will also help you better appreciate each of the other installations on the tour.
