What is the National Solar Tour?
The Solar Tour was founded in 1974 to promote solar energy in Northern California. It grew into a national phenomenon, and in 1995 management was turned over to a nationwide organization. It became the ASES National Solar Tour.
The Tour spotlights outstanding energy-efficient homes and businesses in neighborhoods across the country. More than 5,000 building owners and local installers will open their doors for the tour this fall, across the continent and in every climate. They’re proud to show what they’ve done to slash the energy they use every day, using available, cost-effective, pollution free technologies. The Tour is your chance to see what works, economically, in your community.
When Does it Take Place?
October 6, 2012 in most locations. See ases.org/tour for local listings
Who Attends and Why?
We expect more than 160, 000 people to tour the open-house buildings this fall. These homeowners have chosen to dedicate a Saturday to see what their neighbors are doing with solar power.
