Special interest groups spearheaded by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and funded by fossil fuel interests, are stepping up efforts to repeal or weaken bipartisan Renewable Electricity Standards (RES) – also known as Renewable Portfolio Standards – in states across the US. Although some states are strengthening incentives for renewable energy, 2013 has seen more efforts to weaken these laws than any other year. This panel will discuss political attacks on renewable energy, a nationwide misinformation campaign aimed at dismantling state-level policies critical to the growth of wind and solar.
