An Invitation to Participate in SOLAR 2008

Please submit your technical presentation abstracts and proposals for forums and workshops by Monday, October 8.   For details, visit Solar 2008 at http://www.ases.org/solar2008/participate.htm.

With the “catch the clean energy wave” theme, this will be a great opportunity to present your work on topics related to solar water treatment and production methods, solar water pumping, assessment of water resources, water conservation, alternative water resources, water supply for developing regions, etc.  As both water and energy are two of our most fundamental resources, processes and methods to obtain and manage them sustainability is of utmost importance.

Thanks to Brian Vick, who is our Clean Energy and Water Division reviewer for Solar 2008.

The Division supports stated ASES goals:  providing sound technical and scientific information to interested persons on the use and development of renewable energy.

The Clean Energy and Water Division strives to:

  • Provide reviewers for water-related abstracts and papers submitted for the annual conference
  • Disseminate information on clean energy and water to ASES members and the general public
  • Create a community of business, academia, and government working in water/energy related fields

The ASES Clean Energy and Water Division is looking for people who align with this mission statement to be actively involved.  If interested please contact Nathan Mitten (mittenater@gmail.com).

“On the Verge of a New Water Scarcity”

"Energy Demands on Water Resources Report to Congress on the Interdependency of Energy and Water"
excerpt from Sandia’s site: The continued security and economic health of the United States depends on a sustainable supply of both energy and water. These two critical resources are inextricably and reciprocally linked; the production of energy requires large volumes of water while the treatment and distribution of water is equally dependent upon readily available, low-cost energy. The nation's ability to continue providing both clean, affordable energy and water is being seriously challenged by a number of emerging issues.
