ASES National Solar Tour unlocks the secrets of energy bill savings on October 6
100,000+ expected to attend this 12th annual event in 46 states
across the U.S. as part of the ASES National Solar Tour
The largest sustainable energy event in the nation is coming to town.
Thousands of residents across the nation will see how neighbors are using clean sources of energy to save on energy bills and protect the environment. It’s part of the ASES National Solar Tour which takes place on October 6, 2007 in most parts of the country.
More than 100,000 people across the nation will participate in this 12th annual event coordinated by the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). Solar powered homes and buildings will be open for public tours in 46 states across the U.S.

ASES partners with local organizers across the country to maximize the reach of the National Solar Tour. Through a series of open-houses and informative tours participants learn about renewable energy options, energy efficient design, real-world costs, current rebates available, and other valuable insights.
“Monthly energy bills can take a big bite out of the household budget,” said Neal Lurie, Marketing Director of ASES, the nonprofit working towards a sustainable energy economy. “People who attend the ASES National Solar Tour are often amazed at how easy it can be to reduce their utility bills and help protect the environment.”
Even simple steps like closing window shades on south-facing windows to block the hot summer sun and opening shades during the winter to let the sunlight in can help families save a bundle.
Many families are also attracted to solar and energy efficiency as a good way to help tackle climate change. According to recent U.S. EPA figures, residential and commercial buildings generate approximately 40% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. That’s a higher percentage than either transportation or manufacturing.
Note to Editors: Many of the people with buildings on the ASES National Solar Tour are willing to open their homes and businesses to media for tours prior to the public open house. To arrange an early visit please contact your local organizer. Local organizer information is also available at http://www.nationalsolartour.org
