Creating a Solar Legacy, One Child at at Time
These students will be learning about the benefits of
healthy, pollution-free solar energy — lessons that will last
a lifetime. The principal funding for the solar power system was provided by a group of Vote for Change artists who supported the Vote for Change Renewable Energy Project. The project, led by Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard, was also supported by Bonnie Raitt, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam and REM.
ASES extends special thanks to them for their commitment to renewable energy and energy sustainability, and to the Bonneville Environmental Foundation for managing the project on behalf of the artists.
Additional support for this year’s ASES Legacy School project was provided by:
- Marlene Brown and the Hands-On PV Workshop for Women, who installed
the system.
- Jennifer Szaro and the Florida Solar Energy Center, who helped secure
matching funds for the project.
- The Orlo Vista School administration and staff, especially Mindi Smith (principal)
and Kathy Lindner (teacher and project champion), for their support in hosting
the solar power project at the school.
- Blanche Sheinkopf of the ASES Education Committee and The Sheinkopf Group,
who secured the support of the National Energy Education Development (NEED)
Project and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program
for the solar training and education of Kathy Lindner.
For their invaluable sponsorship of the ASES Legacy Adopt-A-School Program,
ASES extends its deep appreciation to all of its valued partners.
