Many builders claim affordability. But the houses in this book are truly "affordable" affordable homes. These plans and designs can provide homes for millions of people who could not otherwise possess their own space for living.

This book is based on minimal construction time (weeks instead of months), minimal materials and labor, optimized utilization, and adaptability of space.

The plans in this book range in size from 300 to 1,600 square feet (27.9 to 148.6 square meters). They are designed for use as single-family homes, condominiums, joined multiple housing, guest cottages, vacation homes, medical housing, cabanas, art, music, or literary studies, elderly housing, total solar-integrated communities as well as add-ons to existing homes. This is an idea and informational book for the homeowner, building contractor, project developer, architect, home designer, interior designer, solar contractor, and realtor.

Illustrations include drawings and floorplans.

He has personally constructed a number of very low-cost passive solar homes that exemplify the concepts in this book.
