In order to reduce my carbon footprint I have two electric vehicles (Leaf and MiEV). To further reduce the footprint I have 24 PV panels, a solar water heater, and a radiant barrier installed at the house.
I am currently in the process of installing an 18 SEER A/C system and a condensing furnace that is 96% efficient. I am also adding a humidifier which can help you lower the energy usage in the winter by making you feel warmer at a lower temperature. The thermostats are wifi-enabled which means that I will be able to control the temperature of the house wherever I am in the world, which is great if you travel often and forget to change the temperature setting before you leave on a trip.
I also have a web-enabled sprinkler controller which means that I can change the watering schedule from anywhere in the world as well.
