Information for Confirmed Technical Session Speakers
Technical Sessions are comprised of speakers who have submitted abstracts and written technical papers on their latest research, projects, policy or advocacy work. Technical Session speakers must first submit an abstract. If the abstract is accepted, they must then write and present a paper based on the abstract.
Technical Session speakers were notified by early December if their abstract was accepted, and papers were due March 3. We are no longer accepting papers or revisions to papers.
Date and Time of your Presentation
The final program will be developed after all papers have been received. When we have received all of the papers, and have determined the final program, we will notify you of the final date and time of your presentation. Due to the number and complicated nature of scheduling so many presentations, special scheduling considerations will not be possible. Please plan to be available to present your paper from Monday, May 5 through mid-day on Thursday, May 8.
Your paper will be presented in a technical session that will be 90 minutes long and may include up to six papers. You will have 15 minutes to present your paper and answer questions from the audience. The session room will be equipped with computer projection to assist you with your presentation. Any other audio-visual requests must be made at the time your paper is submitted. A/V equipment is limited and special A/V requests will be considered on a first-asked, first-served basis. Requests not made when you submit your paper will not be honored.

Preparing your Presentation
In order for all sessions to run smoothly and all speakers to have the maximum amount of time for their presentations, all presentations will be pre-loaded onto the conference computers. This also enables us to capture and share your presentation with others after the conference, if you give us permission to do so.
Please bring your Powerpoint presentation with you to the Speakers' Breakfast on the morning you are scheduled to speak. Your Session Moderator or Chair will load the presentations onto the session room computer before the session. Please bring either a CD-ROM or a flash or thumb drive. Please make sure you also have a back-up of your presentation with you (on a different CD or drive). You ARE NOT required to submit your presentation before the conference.
- Computers will be PC's.
- Electronic presentations must be prepared using PowerPoint Presentation software.
- If you prepare your presentation on a Mac, please do not use .tiff images. Convert all images to .jpg or .gif. Macs process .tiff images differently than PC's, and those images will not be visible on our PCs.
PowerPoint Presentations
PowerPoint presentations will be saved, converted to PDF files, and available on the conference website after the conference.
Agreeing to speak at the National Solar Conference implies consent to having your presentation converted and available on-line after the conference.
Thank you for participating in SOLAR 2008!
