This presentation will describe Denver Zoo’s efforts to become the greenest zoo in the world through systematic planning and creative innovation, including ISO 14001 and on site waste to energy conversion using gasification. Sustainability is fundamental to conservation and a Denver Zoo’s mission, to “secure a better world for animals through human understanding”. Denver Zoo has been an industry leader in sustainable zoo operations for many years, and now has created several innovations that will have an impact beyond zoos.
