Energy is an essential ingredient for socio economic development and economic growth. This topic will be discussed on May 15, 2012 at the World Renewable Energy Forum in Denver. An objective of this session is to highlight the abundance of solar energy in Nigeria and its usage in local areas, especially remote corners of the country.

In Nigeria, solar energy is one of the most promising of the renewable energy sources, in view of its apparent limitless potentials.

It has been confirmed that Nigeria receives 5.08 X 1012 kilowatt-hours of energy per day from the sun, and if solar energy appliances with just 5% efficiency are used to cover only 1% of the country’s surface area, then 2.54 X 106 megawatt-hours of electrical energy can be obtained from solar energy. This amount of electrical energy is equivalent to 4.66 million barrels of oil per day.

Attend this session, presented by Usman Muhammad from the Centre for Energy and Environment in Gusau, Zamfara, Nigeria. Access wref2012.org for a full schedule, and register now to take advantage of best prices!

Researchers from Bangladesh, China, Korea and Iran have submitted abstracts for technical papers to be delivered at the World Renewable Energy Forum (WREF 2012), coming to Denver’s Colorado Convention Center, May 13 to 17.

Researchers headed to the
World Renewable Energy Conference, May 13-17

Boulder, Colo., Nov. 14 – Researchers from Bangladesh, China, Korea and Iran have submitted abstracts for technical papers to be delivered at the World Renewable Energy Forum (WREF 2012), coming to Denver’s Colorado Convention Center, May 13 to 17.

Abstracts have come in from Wisconsin, Oregon, Utah and Colorado, as well.

Concepts covered by early submissions include –

• an improved design for parabolic trough mirrors used in electric generating plants,
• better foundations for offshore wind turbine towers,
• solar cells based on inorganic quantum dots,
• lighter, thinner solar water heating collectors,
• improved building-integrated solar heating elements,
• a better spectral analysis of pyranometer response, and
• forestry issues related to solar power development.

For the first time, the American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Conference will combine with the bi-annual World Renewable Energy Congress. Energy experts from around the world will come to Denver, the epicenter of renewable energy in the United States, to share their research, knowledge and experience.

Renewable energy technologies are now crossing over the grid-parity divide into mainstream use throughout the world. WREF 2012 will examine how renewable energy technologies address the world’s economic, environmental and security challenges at every scale, from off-grid villages to gigawatt power plants.

Be a Presenter at the 2012 World Renewable Energy Forum: DEADLINE DEC. 15, 2011

Join Us May 13-17, 2012 in Denver, Colo.

WREF 2012 will be the premier international renewable energy conference of the year.
