Tour Description: Self-guided tour of homes,
businesses, and educational facilities in Northern
Indiana that use solar and/or wind power. All locations
are open from 10 am to 3 pm. Homeowners and business
owners will be present to answer questions and provide
resources to assist people in learning about solar as a
heat source and as a source of electricity.

Sites on the tour are:
1) Nafziger Home, 1807 Mayflower, Goshen, IN: This home
features a solar hot water system installed by Michiana
Solar.
2) Schantz Home, 60728 CR 27, Goshen, IN: This home
features a self designed and self installed solar hot
water system.
3) Oakley Home, 716 S. 11th St., Goshen, IN: This home
features a grid-tied photovoltaic system installed by
Home Energy!
4) Burkey Home, 1895 S - 600 W, Topeka, IN 46571: This
home features a grid-tied photovoltaic system installed
by Home Energy.
5) Vandenheede Home, 639 North 13th Street, Niles, MI:
This home uses solar energy to provide hot water as well
as space heating. Built in 1896, the home illustrates
how it is possible to add modern technology for
renewable energy to 109 year old houses as well as newer
homes.
6) Home Energy, Leon Bontrager, 10980 CR 32, Goshen, IN:
This is the business location of a local solar system
installer.
7) Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center, 2388 S. 500
W. Albion, IN: Merry Lea's Collegiate Facility is
designed to showcase green and sustainable building
techniques and renewable energy. Features include a 10kw
wind generator and a 4.8 kw photovoltaic unit. Locations
will be open from 10am to 3pm on October 7, 2006.
