October Solar Fest!

Tour Description: Celebrating the first year of clean green electricity from 4 Kw of Solar Panels on an energy efficient passive solar home in Jackson County, TN.   Solar Tour is 11AM to 2 PM   Solar Workshop at 2:30 PM.   Party Celebration 4 PM to 8 PM

How to Take this Tour: Directions:   360 Roberts Hollow Lane, Cookeville, TN 38501   Going north out of Cookeville on Hwy 135 (Burgess Falls Rd. Willow St. Exit off Interstate 40), approximately 4 miles past Jackson County Line.   After Dodson Brand Elementary School on right and Community Center on Left Take first Left (opposite Dodson Brand Baptist Church) on to Landford Hill.   Take second road to left, Roberts Hollow Lane and follow that to the end to cedar house at top of hill.

Solar at the ETC

Tour Description: The Farm's Ecovillage Training Center is opening its doors to the public from 9:30-11:30 am October 15 and 16, 2007.  The public is welcome to drop by and visit our educational center.  We have solar panels, solar hot water heaters, passive design, naturally built dwellings and organic gardens.  Our center offers courses in Solar Installation.  The next solar course is October 10-14.
Tour Fee: Donation Appreciated

How to Take this Tour: The tour is not an organized event.  It is not necessary to pre-register.  The center will be open to the public from 9:30-11:30 am October 15 and 16.  Staff will not be available before or after the designated time.

Middle Tennessee Tour of Alternative Homes

Taking Place In: The tour will be taking place near Hohenwald, Summertown and Waynesboro, TN

Tour Description: The Tour will showcase off-grid and grid-tie homes, passive solar, solar hot water heaters, a wind mill, alternative vehicles, naturally built homes, water catchment systems, organic gardens and more! The tour will
commence both days at The Farm in Summertown, TN. Each day will showcase different homes. The tour occurs just after our annual Solar Installation Course October 10-14.
Tour Fee: The tour is free to residents of Middle Tennessee.

How to Take this Tour: The tour is free to residents of Middle Tennessee.  Donations encouraged.  Participants not from the area will be charged a $25/day tour fee.  There is also a fee if accommodations, meals or transportation are needed.  Lodging, meals and shuttles are available October 10-24 through the Farm's Inn.  You can contact inn@thefarm.org for details.  Ride Sharing Recommended.  Registration Preferred.
