mreaTitle: Market Development Coordinator
Based at: MREA office in Custer or Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Appointment date: To begin February 2014
Position classification: Part-time, hourly (30 hours/week)

Description:
The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) Market Development Coordinator leads MREA efforts to expand renewable energy education opportunities to audiences in the Midwestern US and develop
partnerships that increase stakeholder engagement in the growing renewable energy market. The position
will support MREA efforts, including the NSF-funded C4 program, to expand community outreach and
market development efforts in target communities in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, and other Midwest
states.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Administration
• Participate in MREA staff Outreach Working Group and others as appropriate
• Collect data and provide reports on work accomplished to program contracting agents and
participants
2. Financial
• Work with the MREA Leadership Team to create and monitor budgets for outreach activities
3. Program Coordination
• Continue work with Kankakee Community College and the Illinois Green Economy Network to
manage the Illinois Power Pack Program, including scheduling and promoting presentations
(“Power Hours”), hosting networking events, expanding the Power Pack Provider and Manufacturer
Network, and developing case studies to showcase model solar installations
• Work with the MREA Leadership Team to expand the Power Pack Program in Minnesota (in
coordination with Hibbing Community College and the Clean Energy Resource Teams) and in
Wisconsin in coordination with Midwest Solar Training Network (MSTN) partnering institutions
• Assist the Training Network Coordinator in the administration of the Site Assessment Certificate
Program, including the coordination of site assessments through the Power Pack Program
• Work with the MREA Membership Coordinator to advance MREA individual, family, and business
membership through the Power Pack Program and other MREA events and outreach efforts
• Work with MREA Development Director to promote sponsorship of MREA events and individual
charitable giving campaigns.
• Attend outreach events throughout the Midwest representing MREA as necessary.
• Support MREA trainings and events as needed, including the Solar Powering Minnesota
Conference, Solar Powering Illinois Conference, the Energy Fair, Move Some Earth Day, Wisconsin
Solar Tour, SOLAR THERMAL Conference, and others as appropriate
4. Personnel
• Attend staff meetings and professional development days as needed
• Participate in staff reviews
5. Facility
• Assist in special project work days as needed
6. Board Relations
• Prepare reports, present information, and attend board meetings as needed
• Participate on other board-level committees as needed

Qualifications:
A successful candidate will be:
• Results oriented and self directed, with a passion for the MREA’s mission
• Organized and focused with proven ability to prioritize and complete activities to satisfy grant and
contract objectives
• Able and willing to travel and work some weekends as needed
• Comfortable working in groups and have experience building partnerships with diverse audiences
• Accustomed to working with a variety of computer programs, demonstrating proficiency in word
processing and database management
• An excellent written and verbal communicator who can promote the MREA’s mission to the public
and market stakeholders
• Familiar with the rapidly changing renewable energy marketplace

Preference will be given to candidates who:
• Have a bachelors or other advanced degree in a related field, including education, communication,
renewable energy policy
• Have communications, graphic design, and website management experience
• Have 3 or more years of professional experience in a related field
• Have experience in writing and managing grants

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
